Chocolate Syrup Layer Cake
   

This is a very moist, very rich cake. The recipe is supposed to serve 12, but it IS rich. You could probably serve more than 12 with it. This cake is good frosted with Chocolate Syrup Frosting.

                                   

Ingredients
18.25 oz - Packaged Plain Yellow Cake Mix
1 1/3 C - Water
1 C - Chocolate Syrup
3.9 oz - Packaged Chocolate Instant Pudding Mix
1/2 C - Cocoa Powder, unsweetened
1/3 C - Vegetable Oil
3 large - Eggs



Instructions
  • Preheat oven to 350°F
  • Grease and flour two 9" round cake pans, or brush them with Baking Spread.
  • Place all ingredients in a large mixing bowl.
  • Mix on low speed until the powdered ingredients are moistened (about 1/2 to 1 minute).
  • Scrape down the sides of the bowl
  • Mix again on medium speed until the batter is smooth and thickened (about 1 1/2 to 2 minutes).
  • Pour the batter equally into the prepared pans and place them into the oven.
  • Bake until the cake tests done (about 30 to 35 minutes)
  • Remove the layers from the oven and cool on wire racks for about 15 minutes.
  • Remove the layers from the pans and cool on wire racks until completely cooled.
  • While the layers are cooling prepare Chocolate Syrup Frosting or the frosting of your choice.
  • When the layers are totally cool, fill and frost.
