Big Spring Junior High
Symphonic Band
2003/2004
7th Grade

Going into the 7th grade, Andrea went into 6th period band. Her best chair position during the year was 1st in the 7th grade and 2nd overall (including 8th graders). She was back and forth between 1st and 2nd chair for 7th graders most of the year and spent the last couple of months of the year at 2nd chair overall.

This year they have been able to perform several times:

  • Christmas Concert:
On December 16, the Symphonic Band (6th period) played the following pieces:
Angels We Have Heard On High
          A Christmas Canon
                Pachelbel Canon
                The First Noel
          Clarinet Christmas
          Carol of the Bells
          Rudolph The Red Nosed Reindeer

  • Elementary School Concerts:
Before Christmas break, the 8th grade band went to the elementary schools and performed. Andrea, along with James Bowen, were the seventh graders who got to go with the 8th grade band and get out of school all day long to perform.

  • Christmas Parade:
Several of the 7th and 8th grade band members, including Andrea, performed with the High School band at the Christmas parade.

  • All-Region Band Auditions:
On January 17 the band had auditions in Andrews for the All-Region Band. Andrea finished fourth chair out of 23 flutes.

  • Andrea wasn't able to perform in the All-Region Band Concert due to her being involved in a basketball tournament on the same day. She was able to attend the clinics in Andrews. The pieces they worked on for the concert included:
