Hard Rock Candy
   

Be sure to stir the mixture from time to time as it cooks to prevent burning and to allow the sugar to cook evenly. When adding the cinnamon oil, be sure and keep your head back from the pan because the fumes are pretty bad. It smells good in your house, but if you get it full in the face, it's not funny! Believe me, I know from experience!

                                   

Ingredients
3 C - Sugar
1 C - White Karo Syrup
1/2 C - Water
1 t - Red Food Coloring
1 t - Cinnamon Oil
Powdered Sugar



Instructions
  • Butter a jelly roll pan on the bottom and up the sides.
  • Put enough powdered sugar into a pie pan to use to coat the candy
  • Add sugar, karo syrup and water to the pan and cook to 300°F
  • Remove from heat and add food coloring and cinnamon oil
  • Pour into prepared pan and allow to cool a little
  • Butter your hands and a pair of scissors
  • Cut candy into strips, twist and cut allowing the pieces to fall into the powdered sugar
  • Toss the pieces in the sugar to coat and prevent from sticking
